Huawei has unveiled the MatePad Mini, its first mini flagship tablet, set to debut on September 4. The device directly targets Apple's iPad Mini market with an attractive starting price of RMB 3,499 (about $490).

The MatePad Mini boasts an impressive 8.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,560-by-1,600 and a smooth 144Hz high refresh rate. All models support SIM card calling, a first watch for Huawei tablets. Powering the device is the flagship Kirin 9020 chip, ensuring top performance. It also packs a substantial 6,400mAh battery with 5A high-speed network support.

The tablet features an ultra-narrow bezel, full-screen design with an earpiece cutout at the top, making it sleek and modern. Weighing 255 grams and measuring just 5.1 millimeters thick, it's comfortable to hold in one hand. Huawei has officially presented the design of the MatePad Mini through first hands-on images and official teasers ahead of its release on Monday, September 1, 2025.
