Honda Unveils New Global EV Series: The Honda 0 Series

Honda presents two new electric vehicle models: the Honda 0 Saloon and the Space Hub-Saloon, with the former slated for release in 2026.

Honda has announced the launch of its new global electric vehicle (EV) series, the Honda 0 Series, at CES 2024. The series, which will debut in 2026, promises to revolutionise the driving experience with its focus on electrification, performance, and cutting-edge technology.

The flagship concept model of the Honda 0 Series is the Saloon, a low and wide vehicle featuring a spacious interior and sustainable materials. The Saloon also showcases advancements in steer-by-wire and motion control management systems, leveraging Honda's expertise in robotics.

Toshihiro Mibe, Global CEO of Honda, stated that the mobility Honda dreams of is not an extension of the trend of 'thick, heavy, but smart' EVs, but rather a completely new value from thin, light, and wise as the foundation for the new Honda 0 EV series.

The Honda 0 Series will also introduce a model based on the Saloon concept in North America, followed by introductions in various regions including Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and South America.

In addition to the Saloon, Honda unveiled the Space-Hub concept model at CES 2024. The Space-Hub was developed under the theme of "augmenting people's daily lives" and offers a flexible space that connects passengers to each other and the outside world.

The Honda 0 Series vehicles will utilize a dedicated "thin" EV platform for improved aerodynamic performance. They will also be equipped with the next generation in AD (automated driving) features in the second half of the 2020s.

The Honda 0 Series models will feature an ADAS (advanced driver-assistive system) that utilizes technologies found with Honda SENSING Elite. Honda is also developing an original operating system for the Honda 0 Series models that learns user preferences and behaviors.

The Honda 0 Series represents a fresh approach to the development of electrified vehicles, guided by the principles of Thin, Light, and Wise. The new H mark symbolizes two outstretched hands and represents Honda's commitment to expand the possibilities of mobility and continue to meet the needs of its customers.

Shinji Aoyama, Global EVP of Honda, stated that the Honda 0 Series was formulated with a design for the new era, aiming to evoke a new perspective for people. The series will offer new advancements in design, automated driving, connected technologies, performance, and battery efficiency.

Furthermore, the Honda 0 Series models will leverage electrification and performance technologies for a sporty driving experience. They will also feature software-defined mobility products for a "wiser" and intelligent user experience.

The Honda 0 Series will be introduced in the North American market starting in 2026, marking a significant step forward in Honda's electrification strategy. The CEO of Honda who introduced the "Honda 0 Series" at CES 2024 is Toshihiro Mibe. The new H mark logo will be used exclusively for the next-generation EV models.
