Minister Informs Himself About Competencies in Drone Defense - Hesse's Interior Minister to Visit Police Air Squadron Amid Growing Drone Threat
Hessian Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU) will visit the police air squadron in Egelsbach on the morning of March 9 at 9:30 a.m. The Bundespolizei (Federal Police) is offering support in defense against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the visit, following an increase in drone incidents in Germany and Europe.
The visit comes in response to recent drone incidents, including two consecutive evenings of disruptions at Munich Airport, which led to flight operation suspensions. To tackle this issue, Hesse has equipped its police with necessary powers to combat unmanned aerial vehicles since December 2024. During the visit, Minister Poseck will learn about the drone defense capabilities of the police aviation unit.
The Bundespolizei will provide support during the visit, demonstrating the seriousness of the unmanned aerial vehicle threat and the importance of preparedness. Minister Poseck's visit underscores the government's commitment to addressing this growing concern and ensuring the safety of citizens.
