Guide to Electronic Vehicles: Nearly Comprehensive Information on In-Vehicle Entertainment Systems
Polestar, the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is revolutionising in-car experiences by integrating the Google Play store into its vehicles. This move opens up a world of possibilities, from entertainment and productivity to gaming apps, all accessible on the road.
Each Polestar model – the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4 – comes equipped with dedicated head-up displays. These displays beam essential information, such as current speed, speed limit information, and turn-by-turn directions, directly onto the windscreen, keeping drivers informed without distraction.
Navigating between Polestar's menus and Google Play applications is as smooth as operating any other tablet. The interface is designed to be intuitive, making it easy for drivers to switch between car functions and their favourite apps.
The Polestar 4's in-car entertainment system takes this a step further. Its 15.4-inch, frameless centre display boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a landscape orientation, providing a large, clear canvas for digital entertainment.
Apple CarPlay is also supported across all Polestar models, allowing seamless integration with iPhone users' devices. The Polestar 4 offers wireless Apple CarPlay, while the Polestar 3 will soon follow suit, and the Polestar 2 currently supports Apple CarPlay with a wired connection.
Charging breaks are less frequent than expected with EVs, and with ultra-rapid charging capabilities, these breaks only take around half an hour or less. During these breaks, drivers can make the most of their time by watching their favourite TV shows on Prime Video, listening to music on Tidal, or catching up on their favourite motoring show on YouTube.
Google Home Integration is another feature available in Polestar vehicles. This allows drivers to check on the battery charge status, activate climate functions, and control smart home devices using voice commands. This integration keeps drivers connected and in control without taking their eyes off the road.
The central command centre display in Polestar vehicles serves as a hub for accessing car and safety functions, adjusting settings and suspension feel, and hosting digital entertainment offerings. The display can remember the settings and preferences of up to six drivers, including seating and mirror positioning, most-used apps, and favourite playlists.
The first three years of in-car data are included in the price of a Polestar, ensuring the vehicle remains constantly connected to the Internet. The Google Automotive Keyboard app can even be downloaded on a Polestar touchscreen, transforming it into a computer keyboard for work and home-life related tasks while recharging the battery pack or waiting for the school run to begin.
In a unique touch, Polestar portraits with basketball star Kevin Love feature a person named Kevin. This adds a personal touch to the brand's marketing efforts, reinforcing Polestar's commitment to creating a connected, user-friendly driving experience.
With these features, Polestar is setting a new standard for in-car technology and digital integration, making the future of driving more connected and convenient than ever before.
