In a significant move to improve food accessibility, Gopuff and Uber Eats have partnered to allow SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients to use their benefits to order groceries and convenience items through the Uber Eats app. This collaboration, which represents a new phase in Gopuff and Uber's existing partnership, has expanded the reach of fresh, affordable food and essential items for millions of Americans.

Gopuff, a company founded in 2013, has been at the forefront of this initiative. Using proprietary technology, national infrastructure, and a hyper-local logistics network, Gopuff delivers items quickly across the United States and the United Kingdom. As of today, Gopuff customers across the country can use SNAP EBT benefits to pay for groceries across various shopping channels.

The partnership between Gopuff and Uber Eats has proven beneficial for SNAP recipients, with early data showing meaningful reach in vulnerable populations. For instance, 17% of Gopuff SNAP deliveries have been made to customers living in food deserts, 25% to areas with high senior populations, and 55% to areas with more people with disabilities.

Moreover, SNAP customers on Gopuff order more frequently and purchase more items per order than non-SNAP customers, indicating strong adoption and dependence. In fact, SNAP customers check out with 62% more items per order, resulting in a 22% higher spend.

To incentivise SNAP users, the partnership offers benefits such as $0 delivery fees on the first three SNAP-eligible orders and limited-time free trials of Uber One. Forage, a mission-driven payments company, processes SNAP payments for all retailers mentioned in this article, ensuring secure and convenient transactions for SNAP users.

Uber's Head of grocery and retail for North America, Hashim Amin, stated that expanding SNAP EBT payments across Uber Eats is a critical step in their mission to make food more accessible for everyone. Gopuff has also expanded its SNAP EBT payment options on its website and through the Uber Eats app.

This collaboration addresses some food insecurity issues by providing a convenient, accessible food delivery option for SNAP recipients nationwide, particularly benefiting those in food deserts and vulnerable communities.
