Google's $4 Billion 'Project Pyramid' Brings Jobs, Revenue to West Memphis, Arkansas
Tech giant Google is expanding its footprint in the southern United States with a significant investment in West Memphis, Arkansas. The company has confirmed plans for 'Project Pyramid,' a $4 billion hyperscale data center campus that will create 'jobs near me' and boost local revenues.
The project, spanning nearly 1,200 acres, will include five large-scale data center buildings, an on-site substation, and office space. Google's investment is one of its most substantial in the region, with the campus set to house advanced cloud and AI infrastructure.
The tech company has also committed to demand-response strategies, collaborating with Entergy to manage energy consumption during peak times. This commitment aligns with Google's broader sustainability goals. The Arkansas Public Service Commission has approved Entergy's plan for a 600-MW solar power facility and a 350-MW battery storage system to power the data center complex.
'Project Pyramid' is expected to generate up to 300 permanent jobs and around 5,000 construction jobs. Moreover, it could bring in approximately $120 million in property tax revenues for the local school system.
