Google Unveils Jules Tools: Command Line Interface for AI Coding Agent

Google has unveiled Jules Tools, a command line interface for its AI coding agent, Jules. The tool is designed to make Jules more programmable and customizable, allowing developers to interact with it directly from the terminal.

Jules, launched last December, uses Google's Gemini model to fix bugs and write tests asynchronously. Recently, Jules successfully fixed a bug in an Electron-based RSS reader by modifying the code to prevent an 'Object has been destroyed' error.

One of the key developers behind Jules Tools at Google Labs is Nadia Carlsten. With the release of Jules Tools, developers can now interact with Jules without leaving their workflow. A recent pull request by Jules to fix a bug was satisfactory, but it was noted that it could be further optimized.

Jules Tools, now available, offers a new level of control and customization for developers working with Google's AI coding agent, Jules. While Jules has already proven its ability to fix bugs, the potential for further optimization is being explored.
