German Shooting Sport Federation Unveils New Gunfight Drill
The German Shooting Sport Federation (Deutscher Schützenbund) has introduced a new drill to enhance gunfight performance and equipment testing. The drill, designed to simulate various stages of a gunfight, involves dynamic motion and multiple positions.
Starting upright, competitors must draw their pistol, fire one shot with a one-handed grip, and repeat this five times. The goal is straight shots, avoiding upward or downward angles, with target height adjustments between positions.
The drill continues with participants sitting. They must decide the best use for their offhand, sit up, and fire one shot, alternating between one-handed and two-handed grips, repeating five times in each position.
From kneeling, competitors rise quickly, fire one shot, then retreat or advance to cover, firing two shots while moving. This sequence is repeated five times in each direction.
The drill, designed to identify and train away gear or bodily limitations, requires dry practice initially due to its dynamic nature. Live ammunition can be used later, slowly and safely. The Deutscher Schützenbund aims to improve shooters' performance and equipment proficiency through this comprehensive drill.
