G42 & NVIDIA Team Up to Revolutionize Weather Forecasting with AI
G42 and NVIDIA have joined forces to advance climate technology, focusing on enhancing weather forecasting with AI. The collaboration will initially target a square-kilometre resolution weather forecasting model to improve prediction accuracy.
The partnership will build on NVIDIA's Earth-2 platform, which uses AI to accelerate climate and weather predictions. A new operational base and Climate Tech Lab will be established in Abu Dhabi to drive research and development in this field.
Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, expressed his excitement about the initiative, stating that it aims to solve global challenges through AI innovation. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, also shared his enthusiasm, noting that the collaboration will harness AI to predict climate phenomena with unprecedented accuracy.
The Climate Tech Lab will utilise over 100 petabytes of geophysical data assets to create tailored climate and weather solutions. The ultimate goal is to deliver climate solutions that combine scientific accuracy with real-world applicability, driving change across industries and ecosystems.
