Cascade Space Raises $5.9 Million to Revolutionise Spacecraft Communication Systems
Cascade Space, a pioneering company in the space industry, has secured $5.9 million in seed funding. The primary aim of this investment is to advance the development of Cascade Portal, the firm's flagship online software platform for spacecraft communication system design, analysis, and testing.
The Cascade Portal is designed to empower engineers to create RF communication systems more efficiently, generate test plans, and ensure compatibility with ground networks. This ground-breaking platform promises to significantly reduce design iteration times from weeks to hours.
In addition to the Cascade Portal, Cascade Space is also developing the Cascade Network, a growing ground station network tailored to support deep space and lunar missions. This initiative addresses the current bottleneck caused by oversubscription and limitations in existing networks, such as NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN).
The investment will also bolster the team, which comprises experienced engineers from SpaceX and Astra, in accelerating the creation of an end-to-end platform to enhance spacecraft communication system design, test, and operations, particularly for lunar and deep space exploration.
To further bolster its offerings, Cascade Space has recently open-sourced its spacelink Python library, which forms the backbone of the Portal's functionality. The funding will help in the development of these tools and infrastructure to improve mission assurance and speed for customers in the space sector.
