FRV Completes 300MW Walla Walla Solar Farm for Microsoft
FRV Australia has completed its largest solar project to date, the 300MW Walla Walla Solar Farm in New South Wales. The facility, which spans 605 hectares and incorporates around 700,000 solar modules, began generating power in November 2024 and has since reached full commercial operation status.
The construction of the Walla Walla Solar Farm was managed by EPC contractor Gransolar. The project operates under a 15-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft, supplying renewable energy for the tech giant's Australian data centre operations. The CEFC committed AU$100 million in senior debt finance for the project's development, with additional financing support provided by ING and Export Development Canada. Once fully operational, the solar farm is expected to generate approximately 720GWh of clean energy annually. With the completion of the Walla Walla Solar Farm, FRV Australia's total Australian capacity has reached 993MW across its portfolio.
The Walla Walla Solar Farm, FRV Australia's largest project to date, is now fully operational. The 300MW facility, which covers 605 hectares and uses single-axis tracking technology, will generate substantial clean energy for Microsoft's Australian data centres over the next 15 years. The project's successful completion further expands FRV Australia's renewable energy capacity.
