FintechNGR sets daring course at 8th Annual General Meeting, reveals ambitions for Nigeria's digital future.

In a bid to foster an innovation-driven environment and position Nigeria as Africa's digital finance powerhouse, the Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR) has unveiled a strategic plan centered around the P.I.E. agenda. This ambitious plan aims to drive the growth of Nigeria's fintech ecosystem beyond 2025.

The P.I.E. agenda stands for Participation, Innovation, and Expansion, and is designed to encourage wide member engagement and ecosystem growth. FintechNGR aspires to be the premier voice and orchestrator of digital financial transformation in Nigeria, emphasizing broad participation where members engage, innovate, and grow together.

One of the key components of this strategy includes creating communities of practice focused on various aspects such as innovation and regulation to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the fintech sector.

A significant upcoming event in this journey is the 2025 Nigeria Fintech Week, which serves as a platform to showcase the P.I.E. goals and further facilitate growth and innovation in the sector. This event, spanning four regional hubs, aims to raise over ₦1 billion in revenue and sponsorship.

In line with national efforts to enhance digital inclusion, especially in rural areas, the Nigerian government is investing in infrastructure projects like the plan to invest in 7,000 telecom towers. This infrastructural investment is critical for enabling fintech solutions to reach rural populations, promoting financial inclusion and economic transformation across sectors like health, agriculture, and security.

FintechNGR is not only focusing on Nigeria but also reaffirming its role as a key architect of policy shaping Africa's digital financial future. The association is reaffirmed as a convener of thought leadership and a driver of inclusive growth.

The 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of FintechNGR, held on July 8 in Lagos, was a hybrid event attended by luminaries from Nigeria's fintech landscape, including members of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, and over 600 institutional and individual members. During the AGM, Dr. Stanley Jacob, President of FintechNGR, unveiled the theme for the Nigeria Fintech Week 2025: "The Fintech Ecosystem Symphony: Orchestrating Nigeria's Digital Future."

Dr. Jacob, along with Dr. Segun Aina, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, urged members to champion the Association's mission as innovators, advocates, and ecosystem builders. The Association has also undergone governance reforms, data privacy audit, and enhanced procurement standards to ensure transparency and accountability.

With these strategic initiatives, FintechNGR is aiming to make Nigeria one of the world's leading markets for fintech innovation and investment, positioning itself as the premier national fintech association in Africa.

  1. The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR) envisions utilizing technology to drive growth and innovation in the business sector, with a particular focus on finance, aiming to become the premier voice and orchestrator of digital financial transformation in Nigeria.
  2. As part of its strategic plan, FintechNGR intends to collaborate with various sectors, such as health, agriculture, and security, leveraging fintech solutions and expanding to rural areas, wherein a significant telecom tower investment by the Nigerian government will help in reaching those areas, fostering digital inclusion and economic transformation.
