Fiat's New Fastback Crossover: Affordable & Eco-Friendly

Fiat is set to introduce a new fastback crossover, based on the popular Panda, with a budget-friendly price tag. The vehicle, set to hit showrooms by 2027, will offer gasoline, mild-hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. It's a sibling to the Citroen Basalt, launched in 2024, and will sit on Stellantis' Smart Car platform.

The prototype, currently under testing, has a more traditional design compared to the initial concept. It shares DNA with the Citroen Basalt, which is already available in several markets. Under the hood, buyers can expect a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine in both petrol and mild-hybrid versions, along with a full EV variant. This range of engine choices caters to various preferences and environmental concerns. Notably, the production version is expected to resemble the overseas-market Citroen Basalt, indicating a cohesive design strategy within the Stellantis family.

The Fiat Fastback crossover, based on the Panda, is slated to be the first new addition to the Panda family, expected to roll out by 2027. It's not related to the Fiat Fastback sold in South America since 2022. With its budget-friendly price point and range of powertrain options, this fastback is poised to attract a wide range of buyers.
