Exam: Are You Aware of the Recent Developments in These 6 Aviation Summaries?
In a recent Pilot Report (PIREP), the altitude of a King Air 90 aircraft was unknown. The report, however, did provide other valuable information about the sky conditions and visibility.
The sky conditions were clear, as indicated by the code "SKC," which stands for skies clear. Interestingly, there was an overcast layer from 2600' to 4800' feet, above which the skies were clear.
The overcast layer was situated to the southwest, as specified in the remarks using the code "RM." Unfortunately, the PIREP did not provide any information about the aircraft's position relative to this overcast layer.
The visibility in the area was 3 statute miles, as per the code "FV03SM" in the weather group. However, the temperature and sky conditions at specific heights, apart from the overcast layer mentioned above, were not mentioned in the PIREP.
Furthermore, the PIREP did not provide any information about which airline operated the King Air 90 or the aircraft's flight level, as indicated by the code "FLUNKN" in the altitude group. The aircraft's position was on the 010 radial at 30 DME, referencing the BTG VOR, but no new information about the aircraft's altitude was provided in the PIREP.
Regrettably, the PIREP did not include any details about the temperature in the area, but the code "TA M10" in the temp group suggests a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius.
Despite the missing altitude information, this PIREP offers valuable insights into the sky conditions and visibility at certain heights and locations, which could be beneficial for other pilots planning their flights in the same area.
