European Defense Tech Startup Orbotix Secures €6.5M for AI-Driven Drone Swarming
European defense tech startup Orbotix has secured €6.5 million in strategic funding. The company, founded by Bogdan Ochiana and Sebastian Straube, aims to develop AI capabilities, particularly drone swarming, and establish distributed micromanufacturing sites within the EU.
The funding round was led by BVVC Fund, with participation from Gustav Söhne Verwaltung GmbH & Co. KG and Leryon Global Holdings. The capital will accelerate product development and expand manufacturing across the EU. Orbotix's products are designed for defense forces, special operations units, law enforcement agencies, critical infrastructure, and public safety.
Joe Musselman, Founder & Managing Partner of Bravo Victor Venture Capital, praised Orbotix's work on swarm autonomy, stating that it will be crucial on tomorrow's battlefields. Orbotix is building these capabilities in Europe at scale and under allied control. The company's modular and interoperable systems are designed for collaborative operation, helping European forces become more autonomous and adaptive. Orbotix's autonomous aerial defense solutions are tailored to Europe's operational needs and terrain.
Orbotix, headquartered in Poland, was established in response to modern security threats, notably highlighted by the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. With the recent funding, the company is poised to speed up development and expand its manufacturing footprint across the EU, strengthening Europe's defense capabilities.
