In a recent advice given to the Moscow City News Agency, cybersecurity expert Nikita Novikov from Angara Security and project manager Kirill Levkin from MD Audit (Softline Group) shared some valuable tips for updating an Android system.

It's essential to be cautious when updating your Android device, as errors during the process can lead to damage to the firmware, driver incompatibility, or a bootloader failure. This was evident in previous reports where owners of Android-based smartphones faced the issue of their devices becoming non-functional after a system update.

To minimize the risk of such issues, Nikita Novikov recommends updating your Android system only through official channels. He also advises creating a backup of your data before updating, as it can help restore information in case of a failure. Contrary to some reports, Novikov did not mention the need to wait for other users to test the update before installing it.

Another crucial piece of advice from Novikov is to ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection when updating your Android system. He also suggests charging the battery to at least 50-60% before the update to prevent any power interruptions during the process. Interestingly, he did not mention the need to make a copy of your data on your computer before the update.

To summarise, when updating your Android system, it's recommended to:

  1. Use official channels.
  2. Create a backup of your data.
  3. Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection.
  4. Charge the battery to at least 50-60%.

By following these tips, you can help safeguard your device from potential issues during the update process. Happy and safe updating!
