Enhances Efficiency of Transport for London's Engineering Vehicle Lineup

London's transportation authority, Transport for London (TfL), scrutinized its fleet's telemetry data and work patterns for a year to optimize the electrification of its engineering service vehicles. TfL, thus, improved its strategy.

In a significant stride towards a greener future, Transport for London (TfL) has partnered with Dynamon to transition its fleet to electric vehicles using data-driven solutions. This partnership demonstrates how large organisations can confidently, efficiently, and sustainably transition to electric vehicles.

The collaboration has identified 36 key locations for installing dedicated fleet-only charging infrastructure. These locations, which include depots, Tube stations, offices, and bus stations, have been selected based on an analysis of vehicle telematics data and operational patterns at 356 locations over a 12-month period.

If implemented, this plan could potentially reduce the number of chargers required by 43%, thanks to the implementation of charger sharing strategies. This could improve charger utilisation by 35%.

50% of TfL's fleet is recommended for immediate electrification with no schedule or route changes. If successful, the fleet's reliance on public charging could be reduced by 25%. The remaining 50% of TfL's fleet either needs minor adjustments or additional charging solutions, requiring further assessment by TfL.

Dynamon's Zero software has played a crucial role in TfL's journey towards a zero-emission future. The software provides actionable insights for fleet electrification, as stated by Angus Webb, CEO of Dynamon.

The partnership's work will be celebrated at the fourth annual CiTTi Awards on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The CiTTi Awards is an unmissable event for the UK's transportation sector.

Within TfL, 36 important sites have been identified to set up dedicated charging stations exclusively for fleet operations. However, the specific site names or locations have not been detailed in the available search results.

These identified sites would cover 90% of the fleet's energy demand, marking a significant step towards TfL's goal of a greener, more sustainable public transport system. The fourth annual CiTTi Awards will recognise and celebrate such achievements and innovations in public transport.
