Polestar 3 Sets New Electric SUV Distance Record

The Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor electric SUV has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey travelled on a single charge by an electric SUV. The record-breaking trip saw the vehicle cover an impressive distance of 581.3 miles (935.44 km) without the need for a recharging stop.

The record-breaking journey took place on UK public roads and was monitored by Paulina Sapinska using video footage, odometer readings, GPS readings, and battery level data. A judge from the Guinness Book of World Records was present to adjudicate the attempt.

The professional efficiency drivers Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker recorded an impressive figure of 5.13 miles per kWh during the record run, which took 22 hours 57 minutes to complete, with the driver switched every three hours. Once the display showed zero percent, the vehicle travelled a further eight miles.

The Polestar 3 achieved its official WLTP range figure of 438 miles with 20 percent battery capacity still remaining. Rapid charging with up to 250kW allows a 10-80 percent charge in 30 minutes for the Polestar 3.

The ability of the Polestar 3 to travel beyond a London to Edinburgh distance is deemed impressive. This achievement demonstrates that electric vehicles can exceed typical advertised range under optimized conditions.
