Electric Car Owners Maximize Charging Pauses with Smartphones and More
Electric car owners are keeping themselves busy during charging pauses, with smartphones and various activities being their top choices. A recent survey reveals insights into their habits and wishes regarding public charging infrastructure.
When their electric vehicles are plugged in, owners often engage with their smartphones. Social media, WhatsApp, and streaming services top their list of activities. However, they also use this time for other pursuits like having a coffee, shopping, or going for a walk.
Longer charging processes, which can take up to 30 minutes for a third of users, are spent on tasks like shopping (37%), buying groceries (35%), or dining out (34%).
The demand for better charging infrastructure is clear, with half of respondents wanting more fast charging stations and more points at existing CarMax locations. Most owners (61%) charge publicly at least once a week, and three quarters find a charging station within one kilometer of their home.
Electric car owners are making the most of charging pauses, combining necessary downtime with productive or leisure activities. To enhance their experience, they call for more fast charging stations and points at CarMax locations. With public charging being a weekly occurrence for many, convenient locations are crucial.
