The second half of 2025 is set to see a surge in hiring within the e-commerce and quick commerce sectors, particularly in delivery, logistics, and customer support roles. According to Adecco India, demand for these roles is projected to increase by 30-35%.

Industry experts predict that approximately 2-2.5 lakh seasonal jobs will be created during this period, with e-commerce and retail leading the way, accounting for around 35-40% of total seasonal job creation.

The demand for multilingual candidates, those with strong customer-handling skills, and digital proficiency is on the rise, as these skills are crucial for customer support and dynamic delivery operations in diverse urban markets.

The hiring momentum is not limited to metropolitan cities. Tier II and III cities are also experiencing significant growth, with a 42% increase in job volumes in cities like Lucknow, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar, and Mysuru.

Retail-facing positions such as in-store sales staff, inventory managers, and merchandisers are also witnessing a spike in demand.

Quick commerce is driving the most aggressive hiring momentum, particularly in logistics and delivery functions. Companies are offering better compensation to attract and retain frontline talent, with wages for delivery partners rising by 13-18% this year, and average payouts in metros expected to reach ₹22,000-₹22,500 per month.

Top performers are being offered special bonuses during peak festive weeks, and attendance bonuses, completion incentives, and performance-based payouts are now standard across the board.

NLB Services CEO Sachin Alug and Kartik Narayan, CEO-Staffing at TeamLease Services, share a similar outlook, noting that quick commerce players have begun hiring earlier than in previous years.

Interestingly, women's participation in seasonal jobs is on the rise, aided by the appeal of flexible work and incentive-led contracts.

The trend points to major metropolitan centers paired with emerging Tier II/III cities driving the expansion of workforce demand in e-commerce logistics and customer-centric roles.

As we move towards 2026, smaller cities are expected to become significant growth centers for festive hiring, potentially contributing nearly half of all e-commerce activity.

This hiring momentum underscores the importance of speed, readiness, and customer experience, with companies willing to pay a premium for it.
