Discussion on integrating artificial intelligence in the educational system held by AMANAT party
In a significant move towards digital transformation, Kazakhstan's education system is set to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, as highlighted in a recent meeting chaired by Zhuldyz Suleimenova, Council Chair and Majilis deputy.
The gathering, held under the AMANAT party, focused on topics outlined in President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's address "Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Their Solutions Through Digital Transformation". The meeting was attended by key figures such as First Vice Minister of Education and Science Maira Meldibekova, Majilis deputies Yulia Kuchinskaya and Natalia Demenтьeva, Council members Maria Utebaeva, Zaures Batталova, Aisha Turmagambetova, Dinar Kudaikulova, Acting Chairman of the Committee on Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Education Gulzhan Zharsova, as well as regional education department heads and deputy akims, all participating in an online format.
Meldibekova stressed the importance of integrating AI technologies into school education, while Suleimenova emphasized their potential to significantly boost the development of the education system. The "AI Sana" program, which allows students to transform their knowledge into projects valuable to society and the future economy, is a key initiative in this regard.
Moreover, over 429,000 students have completed courses on the basics of artificial intelligence, and around 4,000 teachers have undergone special certification courses for teaching AI. The "Mansap compass" platform is being implemented to help students determine their future profession earlier.
The company working on the integration of AI into school education in Kazakhstan is not explicitly named, but Kazakhstan has launched a radical AI initiative involving a new Digital Ministry and tech education initiatives to become a tech nation within three years. Every student is expected to be able to apply AI in their specialty and eventually create new technologies or launch startups.
The meeting also discussed plans to pilot AI fundamentals in future schools, with pilot programs in math, informatics, and Kazakh language for 5th grade, to be introduced from the second academic quarter. The main goal of this digital transformation, as noted by the President, is to improve the quality of life and enhance Kazakhstan's competitiveness.
Transforming Kazakhstan into a full-fledged digital state is one of the main tasks for the coming years, according to Suleimenova. President Tokayev noted that the wide application of AI and large-scale digitalization should become key drivers of Kazakhstan's strategic development. The discussions at the meeting included relevant issues related to the start of the new academic year and proposing solutions.
One company, CodiPlay, has started work in the direction of integrating AI into schools. The meeting, as reported by Liter.kz, discussed the integration of AI technologies in education, marking a significant step towards Kazakhstan's digital future.
