Disconnected from the power supply for nearly four months
In the quiet town of Breloh, Heidekreis, a persistent issue with a landline has been causing frustration for residents Erika and Andreas Battermann, as well as their neighbour Ilse Spieker, for nearly four months.
The root of the problem lies in a complex cable damage located near a railway crossing, making the repairs challenging and requiring extensive underground works involving multiple trades. Telekom, the service provider, has stated that they are on-site and have all the necessary resources ready to begin repairs in the coming week.
Despite the assurances, Erika Battermann has made multiple calls to Telekom's trouble line but has not received any updates. Calls to their landline currently reach an answering machine, and Spieker, who is using a simple mobile phone for calls due to the outage, fears telemarketing calls due to undisplayed numbers.
Telekom has offered a voucher as compensation, but Battermann does not want it. They only want their landline back. A call forwarding service was offered, but Spieker declined due to undisplayed numbers. The newsletter offers a selection of weekly articles from Heidekreis, delivered free of charge to the inbox, but the residents are more concerned about their landline issue.
Nico Göricke, Telekom's press spokesman, has confirmed the cable damage and the complex nature of the repairs. He also mentioned that a starter set with 60GB of data for mobile calls and internet use has been provided to the Battermanns as a temporary solution.
The Battermanns went public about the acute telephone outage after reading about a similar issue in Schneverdingen since early February in the Böhme newspaper. They hope that sharing their story will help raise awareness and speed up the resolution of their landline issue.
Katharina Baumann, a Telekom spokesperson, informed about the repair of the faulty telephone cable in Breloh. However, permission for road closures and approval from Deutsche Bahn are necessary for the repairs to commence. The residents of Breloh eagerly await the return of their landlines, hoping for a swift resolution to this long-standing issue.
