Directv Broadens Coverage of MySports Package to 122 Locations
DirecTV Expands MySports Package, Offering Wide Variety of Sports Channels and Local Content
DirecTV's MySports package, launched earlier this year, is now available in over 122 Nielsen designated market areas (DMAs) across the U.S., including major cities such as Denver, Cleveland, Sacramento, and many more. This expansion means that sports fans in more than 100 markets can now enjoy a broad selection of national sports channels and live games from major US sports leagues.
The MySports base package offers 40+ national sports channels, including ESPN, Fox Sports, Big Ten Network, ACC Network, and others. In addition, customers have access to ESPN+, which provides exclusive live events, original programming, and additional content.
In the coming months, DirecTV will add local sports networks and team networks through the MyHome Team add-on. This add-on will offer live, in-market games from 37 professional franchises across MLB, NBA, and NHL. The regional sports network feeds will align with subscribers’ local teams in major metro areas.
MySports customers will have the opportunity to add on locally relevant RSNs tailored to their city or region, allowing them to watch hometown professional sports teams live. This local content will complement the national channels currently offered.
MySports offers game-time notifications and the ability to watch now on live TV or later through unlimited cloud DVR. All major professional sports league channels, such as NFL Network, NBA TV, NHL Network, and MLB Network, are included at no additional cost.
The MyHome Team add-on, which is slated to launch later this year, will feature local access for 12 MLB teams, 15 NBA teams, and 10 NHL teams. While a comprehensive list of the exact RSNs or the names of all team networks included in MyHome Team has not been published yet, these will reflect the typical local TV sports networks associated with the 37 franchises mentioned.
In addition to the base package, DirecTV plans to offer local sports fans the option to add regional sports networks and team networks, including the recently announced Rangers Sports Network, as an add-on to MySports.
MySports can be streamed through the DirecTV app on mobile devices and popular platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire, and Apple TV. The package is currently promoted for $49.99 a month for the first three months.
Vince Torres, DirecTV's chief marketing officer, stated that MySports provides more choice and flexibility for consumers. With the expansion of MySports, sports fans across the U.S. now have access to a wide variety of sports channels and local content, making it easier than ever to catch their favourite teams in action.
MySports will be available for major events such as the Super Bowl on Fox on Feb. 9, the Daytona 500 on Fox on Feb. 16, and the NBA All-Star Weekend on TNT and ESPN on Feb. 14-16.
