The Bangladesh Bank recently organised a two-day seminar on the Cashless Bangladesh initiative, with BRAC Bank taking the lead role. The event, held at the Rajshahi Kara Training Academy Auditorium on September 17 and at Rajshahi University on September 18, attracted a diverse audience including businessmen, customers, students, bank officials, and members of the wider community.

Rafeza Akhter Kanta, director of Bangladesh Bank, presided over the session. Notable guests included Khondoker Azim Ahmed ndc, divisional commissioner of Rajshahi, as chief guest; Bangladesh Bank executive director Md Arief Hossain Khan and director Md Sharafat Ullah Khan; and BRAC Bank managing director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, who attended as special guests.

The seminar aimed to promote digital transactions and enhance financial awareness. Speakers emphasised the speed, convenience, and security of cashless transactions as key enablers of financial inclusion. The programme included extensive sessions on digital financial services, with a focus on Bangla QR and other digital transaction platforms.

BRAC Bank's leadership role in the seminar underscores its commitment to advancing financial inclusion. The event reinforced BRAC Bank's role in accelerating Bangladesh's transition towards a cashless economy.

Promotional campaigns and roadshows were used to raise awareness and drive adoption of digital transactions. However, no specific outcomes or results of these efforts were provided.

The seminar also featured seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions, and awareness campaigns. The opening speaker on September 17 remains unidentified. Participants expressed strong interest in similar programmes in the future.

The seminar was part of the broader Cashless Bangladesh initiative, a national drive to promote digital transactions and financial inclusion. The Deputy Managing Director and COO of BRAC Bank, Sabbir Hossain, also attended the seminar.
