DEWA & Siemens Launch Phase 2 of AI-Powered Plant Intelligent Controller
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Siemens Energy have initiated the second phase of their AI-powered Plant Intelligent Controller project at the Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Complex. The project, in line with Dubai's sustainable development vision, aims to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
The project, launched under the supervision of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA's MD & CEO, employs AI and digital twin-based closed-loop systems to optimize performance and reduce fuel consumption. DEWA's Executive Vice President Nasser Lootah and Siemens Energy Senior Vice President Waheed Abbasi formalized the deal during the 27th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) in Dubai.
Lootah stated that AI and machine learning will continue to be central to DEWA's long-term operational strategy. Abbasi described AI as 'a catalyst for digital transformation' in the energy sector. The Emirati Advanced Technology Group, a local specialist group, is involved in the development of the AI-powered Plant Intelligent Controller.
The second phase of the AI-powered Plant Intelligent Controller project positions DEWA at the forefront of smart, sustainable energy management. The project, aligning with Dubai's vision for sustainable development and AI-driven infrastructure, aims to boost efficiency, save fuel, and reduce carbon emissions. The Emirati Advanced Technology Group plays a key role in the development of this innovative project.
