Developer Issues Persist in Monster Hunter World: Latest Update Introduces Crash Bug, Capcom Acknowledges Problems, Assures 'Additional Information When Available'
Monster Hunter Wilds Saddled with Performance Issues, but a Fix is on the Horizon
The popular action role-playing game, Monster Hunter Wilds, has been plagued with significant performance issues since its launch, resulting in a "mixed" rating on Steam for months. The latest misstep with the 1.021 update has resulted in another 331 negative reviews on Steam today alone.
However, Capcom, the game's developer, has been quick to address the problem. A major crashing bug introduced in the 1.021 update caused the game to crash when players fast-traveled or fainted and then returned to camp during a quest under certain conditions on all platforms.
Capcom acknowledged the problem and promised a fix. On August 14, 2025, they released an emergency hotfix 1.021.01.00 specifically to resolve this crash issue. After applying the hotfix, online sessions were temporarily discontinued, requiring all players to update to continue online play.
The update also coincided with a Steam-specific fix addressing startup crashes caused by the Steam In-Game Overlay in its Beta client, but this was separate from the game-breaking crash linked to fast travel and fainting.
Game director Yuya Tokuda stated that developers intend to "proceed with caution" to ensure that reducing CPU load doesn't have too much negative impact on the game's overall performance.
Meanwhile, if you're in the market for some top-notch gaming equipment, the Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel has been hailed as the best steering wheel, the Razer DeathAdder V3 HyperSpeed as the best gaming mouse, the Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless as the best gaming keyboard, the HyperX Cloud Alpha as the best gaming headset, and the Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone as the best microphone.
The Secretlab Magnus Pro XL has been dubbed the best gaming desk, while the Elgato Facecam MK.2 takes the crown for the best webcam. For those who prefer a PC controller, the Xbox Wireless Controller is the best option.
