Jungle Cakes Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Exciting Residency

Jungle Cakes, a renowned drum and bass (dnb) record label, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a four-week Friday residency at London's premier bass music venue, XOYO. The residency, which kicked off on July 5, is led by label stalwarts Ed Solo and Deekline.

Over the course of the residency, an outrageous lineup that encapsulates the raw energy and underground chaos synonymous with Jungle Cakes will be presented. The lineup promises to be a testament to the label's influence and legacy in the bass music world, with a selection of big bad break behemoths from both established and up-and-coming artists.

Ed Solo and Deekline have chosen their favorite tracks from the past ten years to mark this milestone. One of the chosen tracks is "Ed Solo & Deekline - King of the Bongo", a singalong anthem that is the soundtrack to everyone's festival dreams. Another standout release is "Benny Page & Doktor - Warn Dem", a tune with a big hook and a fusion of Doktor's soundclash lyricism and Benny's heavy horn sound.

Deekline's recent solo releases and collaborations on Jungle Cakes are especially noteworthy, illustrating their ongoing role in shaping the label's sound and reputation. One such collaboration is "Deekline, Manudigital, Queen Omega - Don't Call Me Local", with Queen Omega's 100% live vocal recorded in one take.

The residency also features a few special remixes, such as "Ed Solo & Deekline - Top Ranking - Upgrade & T>I Remix", previously sizzling under but brought to light through the Trojan remix project. Another remix from the Trojan remix project is "KLEU - Rudy, A Message To You", sped up into dnb by Kleu. The residency also includes a DNB version of the original Bob Marley song "Deekline and Jah Cuzzi - Three Little Birds".

The residency also showcases collaborations with artists like General Levy, with the remix of "General Levy - The General (Ed Solo remix)" being a highlight. Another chosen track is "Beat Assassins - Home Grown (Phibes remix)". The residency also features the fiery slingshot of positive culture vibes from the brightest new star in the constellation, Kaya Fyah, in the track "Kaya Fyah, Martial Taktics, MC Det, Ed Solo - She Was Afraid".

The residency is a celebration not only of Jungle Cakes' past but also a look into its future, with the label continuing to foster collaborative projects and showcase new talent. For bass music fans, this residency is a must-attend event, promising a high-energy, bass-heavy experience that encapsulates the spirit of Jungle Cakes.

As the Jungle Cakes Recordings celebrates its 10th anniversary, technology plays a significant role in the residency at XOYO, with remixes by Upgrade & T>I and Kleu, showcasing the fusion of old and new in drum and bass music. In addition to the raw energy and underground chaos synonymous with Jungle Cakes, entertainment takes center stage with performances featuring artists like Kaya Fyah and General Levy. The residency also highlights the importance of music collaboration, as seen in tracks like "Don't Call Me Local" by Deekline, Manudigital, and Queen Omega, and "She Was Afraid" by Kaya Fyah, Martial Taktics, MC Det, and Ed Solo, demonstrating the label's commitment to nurturing new talent and shaping the future of bass music.
