DataSembly has been taken over by SPINS, a leading provider of data, analytics, and digital advertising services in the Natural, Organic, Specialty and Emerging Products industry.

In a strategic move, data and analytics provider SPINS has announced the acquisition of Datasembly, a digital technology company renowned for its real-time pricing and promotional intelligence platform. This acquisition aims to deliver a new standard of pricing intelligence specifically tailored for the wellness-focused Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.

Datasembly brings to the table its capability of capturing store-level pricing and promotional data in real time, while SPINS contributes its robust data and analytics platform that specializes in the wellness-focused CPG segment. This partnership allows CPG brands and retailers to access detailed, dynamic market intelligence to optimize shelf performance, pricing strategies, and promotional activities at a hyperlocal level.

Key aspects of their combined solution include real-time, store-level pricing and promotional data across various retail outlets, comprehensive analytics and market intelligence focused on the wellness consumer segment, cross-channel visibility aligning natural, conventional, and specialty retail data into a unified view, and support for brands ranging from kitchen startups to category captains.

Jay Margolis, CEO of SPINS, emphasized the need to track pricing dynamics, competitive shifts, and promotional activity with speed, depth, and clarity, stating that it has never been greater. He believes that the acquisition of Datasembly will help bridge a key blind spot in CPG intelligence - the lack of consistent access to real-time store-level pricing data for various markets and categories.

The acquisition of Datasembly also expands Datasembly's mission, bringing their real-time capabilities to a broader set of partners. Lucky Labs, another digital technology company, has also been acquired by SPINS. Lucky Labs' product locator platform is designed to link values-driven consumers with beauty and wellness brands, both online and in-store.

SPINS has identified four natural product trends worth watching: beverages, skin care, "healthspans", and protein. The partnership aims to empower brands and retailers with mission-critical insights they need to operate, innovate, and grow in these burgeoning areas.

Progressive Grocer recently spoke with Scott Dicker from SPINS at a show about tracking natural product trends, focusing on what's happening in the industry. The combined offering of SPINS and Datasembly is expected to deliver a complete, transparent, and timely view of product pricing, promotion, assortment, and performance for CPGs, transforming how brands and retailers operate.
