Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S01 Passes Four-Year Durability Test with Flying Colours, According to ADAC

The German Automobile Club (ADAC) has conducted a four-year durability test on the Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S01, evaluating its long-term reliability and battery performance under demanding conditions.

The test, which took place at the ADAC's test and technology centre in Landsberg am Lech, covered over 160,000 kilometres. During this period, the ID.3 was subjected to various stress tests, including charging at fast-charging stations for over 40% of the time.

Despite these challenging conditions, the ID.3 performed admirably. No technical defects were found in the vehicle, and no issues were detected with the body, suspension, or steering. The battery, in particular, showed no significant weaknesses, according to the ADAC's conclusion.

Volkswagen's sales chief, Martin Sander, commented on the result, stating that it demonstrates the high quality of their ID models. The battery still retains 91% of its net capacity after 160,000 kilometres, a testament to its durability.

The ID.3 also benefited from software updates during the test. These updates improved charging performance and efficiency, reducing energy consumption, especially at low temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius, particularly on short trips. The charging capacity increased to up to 170 kW through these updates.

The integrated e-route planner was also updated to consider traffic conditions and forecasts for faster destination arrival.

The ADAC strongly recommends installing software updates to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. They also advise against parking the ID.3 fully charged for several days, contrary to usual recommendations.

This is the first test of its kind for an ID series model, setting a new standard for electric vehicle durability tests. Volkswagen guarantees only 70% battery capacity after eight years or 160,000 kilometres, making the ID.3's performance in the ADAC test all the more impressive.

The ADAC's verdict is clear: The VW ID.3 withstands the stress without any major weaknesses, promising a reliable and efficient electric vehicle option for consumers. For detailed data on the ADAC's ID.3 Pro S01 durability test, it is recommended to check the official ADAC website or reputable automotive test reports published after mid-2025.

The Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S01's exceptional performance in the four-year durability test conducted by ADAC indicates its potential in the automotive industry, especially in the realm of electric vehicles. The battery's impressive 91% net capacity retention after 160,000 kilometres underscores its finance-friendly longevity.

The test's results, combined with software updates that improved charging performance and efficiency, highlight the role of technology in maintaining competitiveness in the transportation sector. ADAC's recommendation to install software updates underscores the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements in lifestyle and daily routines.

With the ID.3 Pro S01 passing the challenging test with flying colours, Volkswagen is setting a new standard for electric vehicle reliability, thereby boosting consumer confidence in this burgeoning industry. The ruling by ADAC further underscores the potential for electric vehicles to transform the finance and transportation sectors.
