Communications company clinches 9 prestigious awards for outstanding performance
In a celebration of excellence in business communication, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines recognised several organisations and professionals at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards. Among the winners were the SM Group, China Banking Corporation (Chinabank), and BDO Unibank, Inc.
SM Investments Corporation, the parent company of SM Group, earned two Quill Awards. The first was for its 2024 Integrated Report, a comprehensive annual report that showcases the company's performance and sustainability efforts. The second award was for its Euro Medium-Term Notes (EMTN) Program, which was recognised for the company's strategic communications in issuing its USD500 million debt notes, the largest international bond since 2014 for SM. Frederic C. DyBuncio, the CEO of SM Investments, thanked IABC Philippines for recognising the company's efforts towards meaningful communications.
Frederic C. DyBuncio was also personally honoured at the awards ceremony. He was awarded for the SM's EMTN Program, marking his second Quill Award of the night. In his acceptance speech, he highlighted communication as a strategic function that helps build trust and collaboration with key stakeholders.
China Banking Corporation (Chinabank) clinched two awards as well. One was for its Brand Refresh Program, an initiative aimed at modernising its brand and image across digital assets, bank branches, and engaging a new generation of customers. The other award was for its digital campaign, 'Focused on You.'
BDO Unibank, Inc. was cited for its social media strategy via the BDO Kabayan Facebook Page. The page, which caters to overseas Filipino workers, provides financial advice and support to its audience.
SM Cares, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of SM Supermalls, was recognised for its flagship youth advocacy, the Global Youth Summit project. Through this project, SM Cares nurtures future leaders and problem solvers in partnership with the Global Peace Foundation.
SM Supermalls also received an award for Toy Fezt, a showcase event celebrating fandom, toy culture, and art.
The Quill Awards, organised by IABC Philippines, is one of the country's most prestigious programs recognising excellence in various aspects of business communication. The awards ceremony is likely to be the 2025 edition, given the context of the article. It's important to note that the awards are not limited to the SM Group, as other organisations and professionals were also recognised in the ceremony.
The Quill Awards highlight organisations and professionals who demonstrate the highest global standards in communication practices. By winning these awards, the SM Group, China Banking Corporation, and BDO Unibank have proven their commitment to effective and meaningful communication.
