Collaborate in real time through live streaming - Collaborating Efficiently via Real-time Video Broadcasting
Got a soft spot for Twitch? Known for gaming, reactions to YouTube vids, and full-fledged shows, the platform now plays host to a hot new trend - co-working. Yep, streamers put on a show while chipping away at their to-do lists, manage emails, whip up social media content, or scribble books. The audience jumps on the grind train too, working on their tasks, gabbing, or chin-wagging about various snazzy topics. The aim? You betcha - stay motivated, focused, and hella productive together.
Daily Grind in Front of an Enthusiastic Audience
Twitch's got a catag done just for it - "Co-Working & Co-Studying." It boasts 16,000 users. Streams can run for hours and differ depending on the streamer and number of viewers.
Anabelle Stehl, age 32, has up to 120 outta her nearly 5,000 followers join her live co-working streams on her "nervenausstehl" channel. "Usually, I stream co-working in the mornings and it's a cool way to kick-start the day together," she said to spot on news. Most mornings at 8 AM, she gathers her crew for a live co-working session. Whilst she tasks herself with her books, viewers tackle their stuff, remote gig, or studies. "I handle other tasks, like meetings and calls, offline in the afternoons," she said.
How a Co-Working Livestream Pans Out
Stehl's co-working streams, just like many others, follow the Pomodoro Technique. That's a groovy, neato method involving focused work for a set time, followed by a short break for chatter and discussions about work and anything else that tickles your fancy. The breaks usually stretch from 5 to 10 mints; work sessions from 20 to 30 mints. Fave games like "Virtual Cottage" or "Spirit City: Lofi Sessions" are often used to keep time and offer soothing tunes, adjustable timers, and a cozzy virtual workspace. These chaps, tagged with games, also provide space for to-do lists.
Co-working streams appeared during the pandemic and lockdowns, but peeps keep egging each other on on Twitch. "It aids in maint'nin' a routine and stayin' focused, particularly when workin' alone," said Stehl. "And it's a hoot." Even when she ain't streaming, she links up with other co-workers and talks smack in the chat. "A real community has devel'ped around this," she noted.
