Cluj-based company BraveX aims to ramp up production of industrial drones to claim leadership in the European market.
BraveX.Aero Aims to Lead European Drone Manufacturing by 2030
BraveX.Aero, a deep-tech startup based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is making significant strides in the drone manufacturing industry. The company, which focuses on producing long-range, high-endurance industrial drones, aims to become one of Europe's leading suppliers of fixed-wing and VTOL drones by 2030.
Currently, BraveX produces over 70 drones annually, with plans to increase this output sevenfold to 500 units per year by 2028. The company's drones are designed for critical applications such as mountain rescue, border surveillance, precision agriculture, and light cargo transport, enabling operations in challenging environments where typical copter drones are limited.
BraveX's drones offer flight endurance of up to four hours and a range of 250 kilometers, significantly outperforming traditional multirotor drones that typically fly less than 90 minutes and cover shorter distances. Raźvan Costea-Baźlutiu, Investor and CEO at BraveX, stated that BraveX has successfully delivered contracts to clients including public institutions, defense sectors of NATO member states, and private security companies.
Technologically, BraveX develops all core components and systems in-house in Romania—including fuselage design, structural elements, electronic systems, and navigation software—which reduces dependence on Asian suppliers and supports enhanced supply chain security within Europe. The startup is engaged in research and development collaborations focusing on artificial intelligence-based navigation for GPS-denied areas and fleet control systems for fixed-wing drones, aiming at efficient monitoring of large territories.
Iulia Oprea, Chief Legal & Regulations Officer at BraveX, stated that prioritizing European suppliers is becoming a necessity for long-term competitiveness and reinforces security within the European space. BraveX's product line includes five drone models: the electric fixed-wing HFP1, the electric VTOL HFP2, the hybrid-powered HFP3, the jet-propelled VIMANA, and the HFP-LS, specialized for mountain rescue in difficult terrains.
In terms of expansion, BraveX is targeting not only public administrations and institutional operators across Europe but also NATO-aligned defense markets and international clients in Africa, Canada, and South America. The company has recently secured €315,000 in funding from the Transylvania Angels Network and is preparing for a new financing round in early 2026 to expand its technical team further and scale production capacity.
Mircea Vaďan, Investor and Business Development Manager at BraveX, mentioned that BraveX is involved in critical areas such as state border monitoring, environmental protection, search and rescue operations, emergency medical transport, and the defense of cities against aerial attacks. BraveX's local development reduces dependence on Asian suppliers and supports partnerships focused on challenging operational environments.
With its ambitious production scale-up plans, advanced proprietary technology development, and strategic market expansion, BraveX.Aero is positioning itself to become a key European drone manufacturer by the end of the decade.
