Citroën Ami reinstates production - now offering Buggy variant as well
Citroën Introduces Permanent Ami Buggy and Refreshed Ami Microcar
Citroën has expanded its microcar lineup with the permanent addition of the Ami Buggy and a refreshed Ami. The new models, which boast a panoramic glass roof, practical door covers, and a bold design, are aimed at making electromobility fun and accessible.
The standard Ami comes equipped with a 6 kW electric motor and a 5.5 kWh battery, offering driving ranges of up to 75 kilometers. It can be charged in one phase with 1.8 kW, and a charging time of four hours at any household socket is possible.
For those seeking a more adventurous ride, the Ami Buggy offers a unique experience. Featuring foldable metal hoops instead of doors, a black rollover hood, distinctive spoilers, and 14-inch steel wheels with a gold finish, the Ami Buggy is perfect for summer, open, and bold adventures. The Ami Buggy also includes yellow accents and the iconic 'ANDY' robot mascot on the dashboard.
Thierry Koskas, former CEO of Citroën, announced the renewed electric Ami vehicle, stating that it is a demonstration of fun and accessibility in electromobility. The Ami can be customized with a new color scheme, including the 'Night Sepia' paint and three optional color packages - SPICY, ICY, and MINTY.
The Ami offers surprisingly ample space for two people and features smartphone integration via the 'My Citroën' app and the new 'My Ami Play' function, which brings navigation, music, phone, and more directly to the steering wheel. An optional cargo kit is available for the Ami, transforming the interior into a practical delivery solution.
Since 2020, Citroën has sold around 75,000 units of the Ami microcar in 17 countries. The starting price of the Ami remains at 7,990 euros, with a colorful version available for an additional 400 euros, and a few more features in the 'My Ami Peps' version for 8,990 euros. No paintwork and no increase in the maximum speed of 45 km/h.
The Ami Buggy, previously a limited edition, is now a permanent part of the Ami model family. A special version of the Ami Buggy, called the Ami Buggy Palmeira, is available in fresh yellow.
