Chinese Company Unveils Advanced Industrial Humanoid Robot SUYUAN

At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2025 in Shanghai, Shanghai Electric, a leading Chinese company, unveiled its first self-developed industrial humanoid robot, SUYUAN. Standing at 167 cm tall and weighing 50 kg, SUYUAN boasts 38 degrees of freedom, enabling dynamic and precise movements for industrial tasks.

Equipped with a powerful onboard processor delivering 275 trillion operations per second (275 TOPS), SUYUAN can process data quickly, execute commands in natural language, and perform adaptive operations in manufacturing and logistics. The robot can lift objects up to 4.4 pounds (2 kg) with a single arm and carry a total payload of up to 22 pounds (10 kg), moving at a speed of about 5 km/h.

For navigation and autonomy, SUYUAN uses a combination of LiDAR and binocular vision technologies, enabling it to identify, pick, and move objects of varying sizes independently. This robot is designed primarily for industrial settings such as production lines, logistics, and warehouses, marking a significant step toward integrating AI with industrial automation.

Shanghai Electric has a strong background in humanoid robotics, holding 189 patent applications related to this field, with 120 already approved. The company's commitment to advancing intelligent manufacturing through AI-driven robotics like SUYUAN is evident in its continuous expansion of its AI-driven industrial ecosystem.

In addition to SUYUAN, Shanghai Electric also showcased its "LINGKE" dual-arm robot at WAIC 2025. LINGKE is designed for handling complicated production jobs and enhances operational efficiency by up to five times. It uses compliant force control and bimanual coordination to relieve workers of high-intensity, repetitive jobs.

Shanghai Electric and Johnson Electric also introduced advanced hardware modules for humanoid robots, including rotary joints, linear joints, and dexterous finger joints, as part of a new joint venture for next-gen humanoid robotics. This partnership further strengthens Shanghai Electric's position in the field of humanoid robotics.

SUYUAN, with its advanced articulation and real-time processing capabilities, is highly adaptable, enabling smooth execution of complex tasks in dynamic work environments. The fluid, human-like movements and high-precision operations of SUYUAN make it an ideal solution for various industrial scenarios. Shanghai Electric's unveiling of SUYUAN marks a significant milestone in the development of AI-driven industrial robots.
