ChatGPT Introduces Integrated Apps for Seamless Third-Party Service Interaction
OpenAI has introduced a new feature for ChatGPT: integrated apps. These apps, currently accessible to non-EU users across all tiers, enable users to interact with third-party services via natural conversation. The initial pilot partners include Spotify, Zillow, and Canva.
The integration of apps in ChatGPT is facilitated by a new Apps SDK, now in preview for developers. Users can launch these apps by simply starting a message with the app's name. OpenAI has launched this new generation of apps, with more pilot partners like Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow set to join later this year.
OpenAI will commence accepting app submissions for review and publication later this year. Initially, these apps are available to all logged-in ChatGPT users outside the European Union on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. Developers can start creating and testing apps immediately using the Apps SDK preview. The plan is to extend this feature to EU users and introduce more pilot partners later this year.
The integration of apps in ChatGPT broadens its functionality, allowing users to interact with third-party services seamlessly. OpenAI's new Apps SDK empowers developers to create these apps, with more partners and features on the horizon.
