BYD revealing home-grown tablet, set to launch in Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 event
BYD, the Chinese multinational conglomerate known for its electric vehicle (NEV) and battery businesses, has announced the launch of an in-house developed tablet designed to elevate the in-car infotainment experience in the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 hybrid SUV.
The tablet, set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2025, boasts a seamless integration with the vehicle's system, providing a more intuitive interface and deeper control or information display for the driver and passengers. This integration is expected to improve the overall usability of the infotainment system, particularly for urban driving and family needs.
One of the key features of the tablet is its multi-screen collaboration capability, allowing it to work collaboratively with other screens inside the vehicle. This feature could enable shared or extended displays, enhancing the overall user experience.
BYD, which is also one of China's largest consumer electronics contract manufacturers, brings its in-house electronics expertise to the tablet. This vertical integration is expected to ensure high manufacturing and integration quality.
The new tablet will support connection with the Tai 7's vehicle system, aiming to provide a more connected and sophisticated in-car technology experience within the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 hybrid SUV.
Interestingly, Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has also been focusing on improving the connectivity between phones and its vehicles. However, the company has essentially shelved the third generation of Nio Phone due to financial pressures.
The Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 is the second in the Tai series after the Tai 3 and is more focused on urban driving needs. BYD's clients include Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Honor, demonstrating the company's prominence in the consumer electronics market.
