BMW X3 40d xDrive Diesel Model Skips U.S. for Europe's Demand
BMW has announced that the 2025 BMW X3 40d xDrive, featuring a six-cylinder diesel engine, will not be available in the U.S. This model is designed for markets where diesel remains popular due to its torque, towing capacity, and highway efficiency.
The 2025 BMW X3 40d xDrive, powered by a B57 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, produces an impressive 303 hp and 670 Nm (495 lb-ft) of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 245 km/h, with an official WLTP combined consumption of 6.7 L/100 km.
In Europe, the 2025 BMW X3 is also available as a plug-in hybrid. BMW Germany offers an entry-level 2025 BMW X3 20d xDrive variant with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 197 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The X3 20d xDrive is priced attractively for those seeking a more affordable option.
The 2025 BMW X3 showcases a range of vibrant paint colors, including the iconic Tanzanite Blue II Metallic, which amplifies the vehicle's clean surfacing and muscular rear haunches. Other options include Vegas Red Metallic, Arctic Race Blue Metallic, and various shades of gray and white.
While the 2025 BMW X3 40d xDrive will not be available in the U.S., BMW continues to cater to European markets with a range of diesel and hybrid powertrains, offering customers a choice between performance, efficiency, and affordability.
