Blackmagic Design Adds ProRes RAW Support to DaVinci Resolve and Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
Blackmagic Design has rolled out updates to its DaVinci Resolve 20.2 and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, introducing support for ProRes RAW. This move comes ahead of the official announcement and addresses industry demand and user frustration.
The updates enable ProRes RAW recording and native playback in DaVinci Resolve and the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. Filmmakers can now import, playback, and grade ProRes RAW files directly within DaVinci Resolve without needing to convert or transcode.
Blackmagic Design has officially confirmed this support, extending it to the Blackmagic Camera app and Blackmagic Video Assist 12G. Pocket Cinema Camera 4K users can now record footage in ProRes RAW format, providing a more efficient workflow and better image quality.
This update is a free upgrade for existing customers, demonstrating Blackmagic Design's commitment to addressing industry trends and user needs. The addition of ProRes RAW support across their capture, playback, and professional editing software is set to enhance workflows and improve compatibility for filmmakers.
