Bitcoin Developer Ben Allen Receives Maelstrom Grant for Privacy-Focused Payjoin Tool

Ben Allen, a prominent Bitcoin developer, has received the third Maelstrom Bitcoin Developer Grant. This grant, provided by Maelstrom, a company led by Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, aims to support foundational tools for a more private, scalable, and decentralized Bitcoin ecosystem. Allen plans to use this funding to expand the implementation of Payjoin, a privacy-focused transaction tool.

Payjoin allows both the sender and receiver to contribute inputs to a single Bitcoin transaction, disrupting common assumptions used by financial surveillance firms. This innovation improves user anonymity and network scalability. Allen, grateful for the Maelstrom grant, will work full-time on the Payjoin Dev Kit project over the next year.
