Big Victorious Entities in Our Website's 2020 Awards

On a Wednesday, April 22nd 2020, the annual VR/AR Awards were handed out. After sifting through nearly 320 projects, an international jury of experts awarded 16 nominees during a ceremony that went down in the history books as the inaugural virtual event in "our website World." Here's a lowdown on the innovative projects that took home the trophies in each category:

Our website, a leading worldwide event in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), recognizes solutions that contribute to solving industrial and human problems in six main categories. These include VR/AR for productivity, learning and training, safety and improving the work environment, marketing and sales, data visualization and decision-making, and a cause.

VR/AR for Productivity

  • BRAIND4.0 by FIFTHINGENIUM: In today's complex work environment, factory workers have evolved into knowledge workers who require real-time access to critical information. BRAIND4.0 aims to make these workers more productive by boosting efficiency, reducing variability, and slashing downtime.

VR/AR for Learning and Training

  • AFT-SNCF VR Training by VIRTUOSE REALITY STUDIO: This partnership between SNCF (French National Railway Company) and the AFT (Association for the development of Transport and logistics vocational Training) has resulted in a training software for heavy truck drivers on Oculus Quest. The software enables them to navigate railroad crossing risks, and offers six different scenarios that recreate common accident situations in France. The Oculus Quest, a state-of-the-art, autonomous VR helmet, simplifies the use of varied training scenarios, helping drivers learn in virtually real-world conditions, develop the appropriate reflexes when faced with an emergency, identify necessary steps, and make decisions faster to save lives.

VR/AR for Safety and Improvement of Work Environment

  • Demonstrating Preemptive Reaction by UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO/SONY CSL: This pre-emptive force feedback system aims to accelerate human reaction times without compromising a user's sense of agility. Initial tests on objects moving at high speeds and baseball-hitting scenarios indicate that this pre-emption system allows users to experience the exact time to capture a photo, while retaining a strong sense of timing.

VR/AR for Marketing and Sales

  • NUDGE AR: An AR marketing automation platform for experience-based businesses, NUDGE allows brands to create, share, and optimize AR campaigns. Through a SaaS platform, brands can develop AR marketing activities on social media, mobile devices, and e-commerce platforms.

VR/AR for Data Visualization and Decision-Making

  • Semantic See-Through by CLARTE: This innovation addresses the issue of user visualization in virtual reality experiences. The system uses a seamless video approach combined with deep learning techniques to integrate a user's body and other participants, effectively transforming the experience into an augmented reality encounter. Seeing one's body in these simulations could enhance the sense of individual and social presence in the virtual environment, ultimately boosting the user's performance.

VR/AR for a Cause

  • Inveion by THE PARALLEL: Cerebral palsy affects approximately 3 children out of every 1,000. Inveion is a software platform for immersive rehabilitation for people with disabilities. By applying a special algorithm, this platform triggers motor neurons to help correct patients' gestures. Early clinical trials have shown clear improvements in movement, socialization, and school performance among children with cerebral palsy, making Inveion applicable for a wide range of disabilities.
  1. The annual VR/AR Awards recognized the use of technology in various industries, including learning and training, where the AFT-SNCF VR Training by Virtuous Reality Studio won an award for training heavy truck drivers using state-of-the-art VR technology.
  2. In the marketing and sales category, NUDGE AR, an AR marketing automation platform, was awarded for enabling brands to create, share, and optimize AR campaigns on various digital platforms.
