Baojun KiWi EV Sparks Strong Demand With Over 3,000 Orders in First Week
SAIC-GM-Wuling's Baojun KiWi EV has sparked significant interest, receiving over 3,000 orders within its first week of pre-sale. This electric vehicle (EV) is priced between RMB 69,800 and RMB 78,800, offering a compelling blend of features and performance.
The KiWi EV is powered by a 40kW electric motor, delivering a maximum torque of 150N⋅m. Its 31.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides an NEDC range of 305km. Notably, it supports DC fast charging, allowing a 30 percent to 80 percent charge in just 1 hour.
Wuling expects the KiWi EV to appeal primarily to young urban women. To cater to this demographic, themed delivery scenarios are planned. The vehicle comes equipped with a 220V on-board power pick-up function, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold control (HHC), and automatic parking, ensuring safety and convenience.
William Li, founder of Nio, suggested that Nio owners might consider the KiWi EV as a second car for their family. Li praised the KiWi EV as a 'smart car that is globally original, technological and futuristic'. The KiWi EV's price is approximately double that of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which ranges from RMB 28,800 to RMB 43,600.
The Baojun KiWi EV has demonstrated strong initial demand, with over 3,000 orders in its first week. Its competitive pricing, impressive features, and positive reception from industry figures like William Li position it as a notable entrant in the mini EV market.
