Aypa Power & e-STORAGE Partner for 420 MW Ontario Battery Projects
Aypa Power and Canadian Solar's e-STORAGE subsidiary have partnered to bring two significant battery energy storage projects to Ontario. The Elora and Hedley projects, totaling 420 MW of power and 2,122 MWh of capacity, will bolster Ontario's grid reliability and meet increasing demand.
Delivery of the systems is set to commence in the first quarter of 2026, with commercial operation expected by the first half of 2027. Moe Hajabed, CEO of Aypa Power, expressed confidence in the projects' ability to maintain a stable grid in Ontario.
Aypa Power has ordered 1.8 GWh of batteries from e-STORAGE for these Ontario projects, as well as for initiatives in California and Texas earlier this year. Colin Parkin, President of e-STORAGE, noted that these projects will provide reliable capacity through the IESO's Long-Term 1 framework, reinforcing their commitment to the Canadian market. Both projects will utilize e-STORAGE's SolBank 3.0 product under 20-year long-term services agreements, ensuring continuous monitoring, preventive maintenance, and performance guarantees.
The Elora and Hedley projects, slated for delivery in 2026 and commercial operation in 2027, will significantly enhance Ontario's grid capacity and reliability. Through their partnership, Aypa Power and e-STORAGE aim to meet Ontario's growing energy needs while maintaining a robust and dependable power grid.
