Averaged users possess around six custom playlists on audio streaming platforms, encompassing a range from soft, relaxing tunes to energetic party mixes.

In a recent survey conducted on 1,156 individuals in Germany, aged 16 and over, including 748 users of audio streaming services, some interesting insights about playlist usage were uncovered.

The findings reveal that 74% of audio streaming users create their own playlists, with an average of 6 playlists per user. However, 21% of users create only 1 or 2 playlists, indicating a diverse approach to playlist creation.

Interestingly, the age group of 16 to 29 shows a higher propensity towards playlist creation, with 30% creating numerous playlists. On the other hand, the age group of 65 to 74 years is particularly dissatisfied, with only 28% agreeing that the music and playlist recommendations of their streaming service match their taste well.

One of the key benefits of using audio streaming services is the vast selection of pre-made playlists. These playlists make it easier for users to find the perfect soundtrack for every specific situation.

Personalized playlists and song recommendations are a popular way for users to discover new music. The survey found that 43% of audio streaming users frequently discover new music through these means.

When it comes to sharing playlists, 46% of users share their playlists with family, friends, or acquaintances. However, only 9% make their playlists publicly accessible, suggesting a more private approach to sharing music.

Dr. Barbara Lutz, the responsible expert for consumer technology at Bitkom, mentioned in the article, highlighted that algorithms learn with every song a user listens to. She said, "The more music you listen to, the more accurate the recommendations will be."

The trend of creating and sharing playlists on audio streaming services has replaced the traditional mixtape on cassette. The survey found that only 23% of audio streaming users often listen to playlists they haven't created themselves.

Sebastian Kloss, an expert for consumer technology at Bitkom, added, "Algorithms learn with every song. The more music you listen to, the more accurate the recommendations will be."

Among the users, 19% have 10 or more of their own playlists, while 28% have 3 to 5 personal playlists. A smaller group of 7% have between 6 and 9 playlists, and 21% have only 1 or 2 playlists.

In conclusion, the survey provides valuable insights into how audio streaming users in Germany are using playlists. With the continuous advancements in technology, it is expected that the use of playlists and the accuracy of recommendations will continue to improve.
