Autoport Expands, Handles Surge in Vehicles Despite Industry Challenges

Autoport, a leading provider of vehicle processing services, has announced significant developments in its operations and expansion. The company, with multiple verticals in finished vehicles and truck equipment upfitting, has been navigating industry challenges and maintaining high service standards.

Autoport has been expanding its reach and capabilities. It is currently developing a customised system to optimise inventory and ground operations, aiming to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.

The company's resilience was recently tested when the Dali container vessel incident at Baltimore port led to a surge in vehicle volumes being diverted to Wilmington. Autoport rose to the challenge, processing a remarkable 12,000 CEUs between April and May. This surge in workload did not result in increased dwell time, a testament to Autoport's commitment to maintaining high service standards despite industry challenges.

Autoport's reputation and capabilities have attracted major automotive companies such as Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, which export vehicles through the Port of Wilmington using Autoport services. Last year alone, Autoport handled around 55,000 export units at Wilmington port.

Looking ahead, Autoport will continue to monitor global market and geopolitical developments, particularly the potential disruptions in Red Sea vessel traffic, to ensure it is prepared for any changes that may impact its operations. Despite the challenges faced by North American ports in 2023, including tight carrier capacity and congestion, Autoport has maintained minimal impact on dwell time, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in vehicle processing services.
