Asus Investigates Stuttering Issues on ROG Gaming Laptops
Asus is currently looking into reports of stuttering and other performance issues affecting several of its ROG games laptops. The problems, first highlighted by GitHub user Mohamed 'Zephkek' Maatallah, seem to be linked to the laptops' BIOS firmware. Maatallah, who goes by the handle Zephkek, has narrowed down the issue to three main problems: interrupt context misunderstanding, looping interrupts, and GPU power cycling. These issues cause a range of symptoms, including stuttering while watching YouTube games, audio crackling on Discord, and mouse cursor freezes. The problem seems to stem from a single CPU core being overwhelmed by interrupt requests for extended periods. The affected models span various Asus ROG game laptop lines, including Strix, Scar, and Zephyrus, with some users reporting issues on 2021 models and newer. Asus is currently rolling out beta BIOS updates for the 2023 ROG games laptops to address these problems, though specific model names have not been explicitly listed. Asus is actively investigating the reported stuttering issues on its ROG gamestop gaming laptops. While the company has not yet confirmed the existence of the problem, it is working to address the concerns of affected users. TechPowerUp has reported that the issue impacts both performance and user experience.
