Artificial intelligence-enabled Catlog collar alerts pet owners when their feline exhibits signs of stress
Rabo of Japan Updates Catalog Cat Collar and App with AI Capabilities
Rabo of Japan has recently updated its Catalog cat collar and app, incorporating advanced AI capabilities to enhance the monitoring of a cat's behaviour and condition.
The AI-driven system collects daily data on various activities such as sleep, eating, grooming, weight, and movement patterns. It then automatically analyses this data to assess the cat's stress level, producing a "Stress Score" that reflects the cat's emotional and physical well-being.
This new feature, the Stress alert function, alerts cat owners if the stress score indicates potential health or behavioural issues, enabling early intervention and helping maintain the cat's happiness and health.
The Stress alert function takes into account a mix of sensors and a cat's behavioural log to determine stress levels. Important factors in determining stress levels include temperature and breathing readings, as well as any other notable deviations from a cat's normal state.
The Catalog app's previous features were quite extensive, providing detailed information about a cat's activities. These included monitoring and reporting back on eating, drinking water, sleeping, running, walking, resting, grooming, and vomiting (beta). The new update also includes a beta test feature that alerts pet owners if their cat vomits.
In addition to the Stress alert function, the app also monitors and charts a cat's breathing and body temperature. These features can be useful in locating a missing cat, as they provide information about the cat's health, mood, and location.
The news about the updates to the Catalog app was released by Rabo of Japan earlier this week and was reported by The Register. The app's new features are designed to keep pet owners informed about their cat's stress levels, aiming to enhance the functionality of the Catalog cat collar and app.
However, the Stress alert function might be controversial, as some people believe that cats are sources of stress relief for their owners. Despite this, the AI capabilities of the Catalog app are designed to provide valuable insights into a cat's well-being, potentially improving the bond between cats and their owners.
