Apple initiates Europe-wide Self Repair Program

Apple has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to product repairability by launching the Self Service Repair program in eight European countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. This move comes as part of Apple's ongoing efforts to expand access to repairs and increase product repairability over time.

Over the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and training. This includes more than 4,000 Independent Repair Providers, ensuring that eight out of 10 Apple customers are located within 30 minutes of an authorized service provider across Europe.

The Self Service Repair Store provides access to more than 200 individual parts and tools, as well as repair manuals. Customers can now perform many common repairs for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups, and Mac notebooks with Apple silicon.

For those who prefer not to handle the repairs themselves, a global network of over 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers supports more than 100,000 active technicians. These professionals, equipped with genuine Apple parts, are ready to provide safe and reliable repairs.

Apple understands that purchasing professional repair tools for a single repair may not be feasible for everyone. To address this, Apple will rent tool kits for $49 for a weeklong period, allowing customers to access professional repair tools without purchasing them for a single repair.

Every genuine Apple part is designed and engineered for each product, and goes through extensive testing to ensure the highest quality, safety, and reliability. These parts, available to customers on the Self Service Repair Store, are the same ones - at the same price - as those available to Apple's network of authorized repair providers.

Customers can also send replaced parts back to Apple for refurbishment and recycling, and in many cases receive credit off their purchase by doing so.

Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer, stated that the Self Service Repair program enables customers who are experienced with the complexities of repairing electronic devices the opportunity to complete their own repairs, using the same manuals, parts, and tools as Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Service Providers.

As Apple continues to expand the Self Service Repair program, it is clear that the company is committed to empowering customers to take control of their device repairs, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
