Apple Delays iPhone 17's China Launch of Apple Intelligence
Apple has announced that the China edition of the upcoming iPhone 17 series, set to be unveiled on September 10, 2023, will not initially include Apple Intelligence. This feature's launch has been delayed due to regulatory approvals in both China and the United States.
Apple Intelligence, a key feature of the new iPhone series, has faced hurdles in its launch. Regulatory bodies in both countries have caused delays, though no specific US authorities have been named. Despite this, Apple has confirmed that it plans to introduce the feature in China via a software update by late 2025.
In China, Apple has partnered with Baidu for the integration of Apple Intelligence. Baidu's Ernie Bot will serve as the core cloud engine for the feature. Apple has completed the technical integration, paving the way for a smooth launch once approvals are secured. Alibaba, on the other hand, will handle content review for Apple Intelligence in the Chinese market.
The iPhone 17 series will be unveiled without Apple Intelligence in China, with a planned launch of the feature via software update by late 2025. Apple has collaborated with Baidu and Alibaba for technical integration and content review, respectively, in the Chinese market. Regulatory approvals remain a key hurdle for the feature's launch.
