In April 2016, Messe Frankfurt played host to two of the world's most significant events in the musical technology and entertainment industries – Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse. Both events reaffirmed their leading roles in their respective sectors, with a focus on building relationships between industry and retailers, and developing innovative ways to connect manufacturers and consumers.

Prolight + Sound 2016 took place from the 5th to the 8th of April, moving to the east side of the Messe Frankfurt exhibition grounds, specifically in Halls 1, 3, 4, and 5. The event featured additional meeting rooms and outdoor areas for presentations and live demonstrations, providing a dynamic platform for exhibitors to showcase their new products and innovations.

Simultaneously, from the 7th to the 10th of April, Musikmesse 2016 was held on the west side of the exhibition grounds, occupying Halls 8, 9, and 11, as well as the Galleria, the Portalhaus special events building, and the surrounding outdoor areas. The Musikmesse grounds also offered dedicated halls for individual musical styles, catering to a diverse range of visitors.

Both events attracted a global audience, with over 108,000 visitors from 146 countries attending in 2015. In 2016, both fairs were more tailored to the needs of the musical instrument and entertainment industries, offering a more focused and engaging experience for attendees.

Musikmesse 2016 also featured an exclusive business hall for trade and exhibitors only, providing a dedicated space for professionals to conduct business and network. Both events operated daily from 10am to 7pm, ensuring ample time for visitors to explore the vast array of exhibits and demonstrations on offer.

Detlef Braun, Messe Frankfurt managing director, stated that the fairs reaffirmed their leading roles in the musical technology and events industries, providing a platform for innovation, connection, and growth in the global musical instrument and entertainment sectors. The events showcased 2,257 exhibitors, new products, shows, and stars, making them must-attend events for industry professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Technology played a significant role in both Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse events held at Messe Frankfurt in 2016. Exhibitors utilized technology to showcase their new products and innovations during live demonstrations and presentations, providing a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.
