Bavarian Technical Relief Agency (THW) Deploys Resources to Aid in Forest Fire Fighting Efforts
The Technical Relief Agency (THW) of Bavaria has dispatched its forces to Thuringia and Saxony to support firefighters in battling large-scale forest fires. According to the THW Regional Association Bavaria, this information was transmitted via news aktuell.
The THW's deployment includes a special unit 'Water Damage/Pumps,' which is currently on standby, ready to be deployed to Saxony if needed. High-performance pumps have been loaded onto a truck by the deployed forces and are ready for immediate deployment.
In Thuringia, the mission on the Saalfelder Height has now been successfully completed. The THW's efforts have been instrumental in ensuring the water supply for the firefighters, with two water transport containers, each holding around 10,000 liters, being dispatched.
Local associations from Bavaria currently deployed include Selb, Mellrichstadt, Marktredwitz, Bayreuth, Kirchehrenbach, Forchheim, and Aschaffenburg. Around 50 Bavarian THW personnel are currently supporting catering for approximately 600 deployed forces in Gohrischheide.
Moreover, Bavarian THW personnel are also undertaking leadership and coordination tasks at the deployment sites in Gohrischheide. A logistics area has been set up by the Bavarian THW personnel, capable of supplying thousands of firefighters and other aid organizations.
